Inversion
In the «Inversion» series, Timofey Kolesnikov turns to a moment of rupture — both personal and collective. The project emerged in 2020, during the lockdown in New York, when the familiar structures of perception began to collapse and reality itself became unstable.
Here, Timofey steps beyond his characteristic style of realist photography, radically altering color, distorting figures, and reshaping space. Color inversion becomes not a formal device, but a metaphor for conscious transformation — a visual act of reversal, where white turns black and black turns white.

Through these images, the artist examines what happens when the familiar turns into its opposite and truth loses its form. His photographs capture a state of dissolution and reconstruction, where the external and internal, personal and collective, real and imagined merge into one field.

«Inversion» marks a threshold — between the old and the new, between certainty and doubt, between the image and its reflection.
