BIOGRAPHY

Timofey Kolesnikov (b. 1989) is a contemporary visual artist living in Paris, France.

Timofey grew up in a small town in northern Russia, Salekhard, where he began his artistic career as a teenager as a photographer for the local newspaper and art museum.

In his work, under the prism of the camera, Timofey dissects the human subject, capturing and conveying emotion, focusing on corporeality and assembling it into a coherent whole through his vision. Over many years of practice, having taken tens of thousands of images and portraits of celebrities such as Jared Leto, supermodel Natalia Vodianova, Bono, Bryan Ferry, Antonio Banderas, Kanye West, Karl Lagerfield, Sadhguru random encounters and social projects, in orphanages and boarding schools, Timofey has pushed the boundaries of the photographic medium.

Photography becomes a material, a surface, an information sculpture in billboard format, a digital file with many layers, it is an infinite material and at the same time a mirror of society and the artist himself. The characters and subjects of the footage become as if a single canvas, which the artist explores and dissects with impenetrable precision.

Timofey Kolesnikov lives every day in flux and relentless exploration of human and photographic limits, as an artistic approach, being either in the desert, or in the workshop of the Parisian underground Poush, or in residence in Mexico, etc.

Timofey moved to Paris from Mexico City in 2023, where he exhibited at Art Residency Lagos, and was awarded a talent and culture residency in France.
